Multiple enamel colors fused together to create this beauty.
This vase starts with clear glass, painted with enamels, then fused to set the enamels to the glass. Cold working (grinding) is done on the edges of the glass to prevent sharp edges. Phase 1 of this fusing process takes around 24 hours of firing and cooling to complete. Next this painted glass is layered with a piece of blue transparent glass and both are laid over a stainless steel form and fused again. This process is called a drape. Phase 2 drape fusing takes an additional 24 hours to fire and cool down.
